Safranbolu / Karabük

Those wishing to travel to Kastamonu from Istanbul by private car should follow the route through Bolu, Gerede, and Ilgaz. Safranbolu is 8 km after Karabük. The journey takes approximately 4 hours by private car and 5 hours and 30 minutes by bus from Istanbul.

You can reach Safranbolu from Ankara city center by private car via the Anatolian Highway, 0-4 and E-89 highways in a 2-hour journey. The distance between Ankara and Safranbolu is approximately 238 km. A bus trip from Ankara to Safranbolu takes at least 2 hours and 45 minutes. You can reach Safranbolu by taking the exit from the Gerede section of the Ankara-Istanbul highway, continuing for 82 km to Karabük, and then another 8 km from Karabük to Safranbolu. The district is 74 km north of Bartın and 105 km east of Kastamonu.

To travel to Safranbolu, the largest district of Karabük, by plane, you need to use Kastamonu Airport. After landing at Kastamonu Airport, you can take a bus to Karabük.
